Mascara is done. The end. I've been working on it for over three years, over 500 pages, and it's nice to be finished with it. It was my first graphic novel and I've learned so much! But although I have one graphic novel series done, I'm far from finished. Here's what I'm going to be doing next.
Expanding my art
If you've been looking through my sketchbook, you would know how much I've been experimenting with creating different kinds of art and different styles. That's going to continue for awhile. I want to test out different styles and mediums not only to increase my skill set, but also to see what new things I can bring to my art in the future.
Publishing Mascara in Print
Okay, so I'm not 100% done with Mascara. Over the rest of this year I will be publishing the next 7 volumes (Volume 1 is already published) . I'm almost done formatting Volume 2, which is ready for pre-order (click here if you're interested in that). I plan not to post anymore manga until I publish Mascara volume 8. So I will be working hard to get that done.
Making My Next Graphic Novel Series
I already have plans for my series. The story is all done and the layout of it is going to be a bit different. I want to say so much about it without giving everything away! In short, it's a very musical manga. I've been posting preliminary character sketches in my sketch book, so if you're curious about how the characters will look, check it out!
Creating a One Shot
Like I mentioned before, the style of my next series is going to be different from Mascara. But, before leaping into this new work, I think it'll be best if I practice this new style a little bit. So I am working on a one shot that will allow me to experiment with the changes in my style. It will be 45 pages long, and I will be posting it after I finish publishing Mascara Volume 8.
