What I've Been Reading: _A_ by KJ Tower

Genres: Comedy, Drama, Mystery, Romance, School Life, Shoujo, Slice of Life

Ryza Hartfelt has a stalker. She can't unfriend him, and he's always sending her chats and text messages. All she knows about him is his user-name, which is simply the letter "A."

What I like so much about this manga is the way that it shows how such a situation can create conflicted feelings. Ryza is a bit freaked out that someone she doesn’t know keeps asking to see her. But at the same time, she’s curious as to why they are talking specifically to her. Then there is the fact that whenever she tries to remove them from her on-line friends list, the button doesn’t work, and if she creates a new account, they’re already on her friends list, adding more mystery to the story.

I really want to know who this “A” person is. Seriously.
At one point of the story, I almost felt like we would never see who A is, especially since the focus of the story shifted a little bit to the romantic relationship that is starting to form between Ryza and her best guy friend, but then in chapter 4, it looks like the of identity “A” will be revealed very soon.

The artwork in this story has more of a sketchy style. The lines aren’t as defined as the artwork in other mangas, but it’s still good quality. I really like the background art. It looks very real, and it creates a good atmosphere for this story.

_A_ is a short read of about 60 pages with more pages on the way. The creator of this manga wrote that it will be done July 27th, which will be soon. So this comic does have an end--you don’t have to worry about getting into it, just to find that creator will never finish it.
